Gatherings honor REALTORS, scholars by Barbara Hendel, Blade Society Editor

The holidays are here, and in between the festivities area folks were honored.

THE Toledo Board of Realtors honored three area members during its annual meeting Dec. 4 at Fifth Third Bank, SeaGate, the evening’s sponsor.

Lynn Fruth of the Danberry Realty Co. was named Realtor of the year. Marcia Rubini of RE/MAX Preferred was named citizen of the year, and Crystal Jordan was named affiliate of the year.

President John Mangas turned the gavel over to 2015 board president Penny Kice.

The American Association of University Women holiday brunch was Dec. 6 at Highland Meadows Golf Club in Sylvania. Guests of honor were scholarship recipients. Receiving the Wemmer Scholarship were Paige Kutschbach, Rosheda Sims, Jaclynn Sullivan, and Heather Veith. The recipient of the Marge Lee STEM scholarship was Hanan Saleh.

The Toledo Ski Club holiday party was Dec. 6 at Heather Downs Country Club. A television was placed above the fireplace for all to watch the Ohio State game while listening and dancing to the music of DJ Mitch Kahl. The Toledo Ski Club choir led by Viv Sommerfield also provided entertainment.

The Perrysburg Area Historic Museum’s fourth annual fund-raiser held recently at Carranor Hunt and Polo Club netted $10,000 for phase two of the museum — the barn of the Spafford House Museum, which is all gussied up for the holidays.

The fun night featured blackjack with celebrity dealers including Glenn Abke, Jeff Abke, Craig Bigelow, Ginger Brown, Frank Butwin, Stephen Clark, Sandy Custer, Dr. Robert Donawa, Cassie Egli, Tim Fisher, Gary Franks, Tom Hosler, Kay Leatherman Howard, John Janssens, Larry Karnes, Allen Kazmaier, Scott Lonsdale, David Modene, Aram Ohanian, Kevin Rantanen, Sheri Robarge, Rick Ruffner, Tom St. Meyers, Nancy Scott, Rick Thielen, and Shelly Wagener-Konz.

Food and spirits sated appetites and quenched thirsts as folks enjoyed the games and silent auction. Emcee Mike Robarge played auctioneer for the live auction, and did great at the job. Kudos to the committee: Phyllis Morton, Judy Justus, Marsha Molnar, Rick Thielen, Nancy Wilbur, Cary Wise, Polly White, and Joann Ward.
