How to protect your property listings from rental scams

When OAR launched the “Daily Buzz” in February 2012, their first couple of posts (here and here) addressed a rise in scams occurring in Ohio. It appears the problem hasn’t waned…in fact, there are now scam reports from all 50 states.

The National Association of REALTORS has produced a brief video to show real estate professionals how easy it reduce the risk of having their property listings used in online rental scams. Scammers are stealing the addresses, photos and other information from legitimate listings  and posting them on rental sites to make it appear they own the property’s they are advertising for rent.
