NAR Continues to Build its Consumer Outreach
WASHINGTON -September 4 a new group that seeks to gather home owners as its members, the America’s Homeowner Alliance, officially announced that it is open for business. The Alliance will offer memberships to consumers who pay annual dues in return for discounts and rewards from various companies, and its stated mission is to “protect and promote sustainable homeownership for all segments of the population.”NAR is not involved in this organization, which was conceived by a former executive vice president for Wells Fargo Home Mortgage.
As the leading advocate for private property rights, homeownership and housing issues, NAR remains fully engaged in and committed to building relationships with consumers on behalf of our Realtor® members, to extend the value of the Realtor brand to the life-cycle of homeownership and to leverage this consumer relationship on real estate-related public policy issues. NAR has represented the interests of private property owners in the public policy arena for more than 100 years. NAR’s core purpose continues to be to support its Realtor® members by ensuring a public policy environment that supports their business success. In addition, the Realtor® Party leverages the association’s best asset – its grassroots network of Realtors® across the country – who consistently rank advocacy as the number-one benefit they receive from NAR. Through the Realtor® Party Initiative, NAR’s comprehensive consumer outreach program, and by leveraging the power of our relationship with realtor.com®, we intend to be the go-to consumer resource and homeowner advocate. NAR is always working on behalf of Realtors® across the country to ensure a public policy environment that supports their business success. Part of that effort involves educating consumers about how government policies affect homeownership and real estate investing, so we can enlist their support on issues like the mortgage interest deduction, transfer taxes, property taxes and capital gains exclusions. NAR is currently engaged in a multi-pronged outreach effort to generate awareness among consumers; expose them to information and resources about public policy developments and the value of owning a home; and engage them toward action, when necessary.
