Angela Decker

RE/MAX Preferred Associates

At-Large Director

WHY DO YOU WANT TO SERVE AS A DIRECTOR?

As the Broker | Owner of a company that serves all ten counties represented by Northwest Ohio REALTORS®, I understand the diverse needs of our members and the common concerns that unite us. Because our agents work in every corner of this region, I can be a strong voice for all areas—not just Lucas and Wood counties. I’m passionate about ensuring that the issues impacting our smaller communities are heard and addressed, because those concerns matter to me just as much as they matter to the agents who serve them.

Serving as a Director on the Northwest Ohio REALTORS® Board of Directors is a natural next step in my journey of giving back to an organization that has played such a meaningful role in my professional growth. From participating in the Ohio REALTORS® Tomorrow’s Leaders Today Program in 2018 to being part of the Northwest Ohio REALTORS® Leadership Academy, I’ve gained a deep appreciation for the impact our association has on both our members and our community. My involvement on various committees—including Grievance, Forms, Legislative & Government Affairs, Finance, and NORRPAC, which I’ve had the honor of chairing—has allowed me to collaborate with passionate professionals and contribute to important conversations shaping our industry.

I’m excited about the opportunity to bring my experience, energy, and collaborative spirit to the Board, where I can help support our members, advocate for our profession, and continue building a strong future for Northwest Ohio REALTORS®.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

Community involvement has always been a priority for me, both personally and professionally. Prior to entering the real estate industry, I dedicated time to supporting the Perrysburg School District, assisting teachers and staff with various projects that enabled them to spend more time in the classroom. Additionally, I was part of a team that organized and hosted the annual school craft show fundraiser benefiting the district. As a proud soccer family, we’ve also supported local soccer clubs over the years by managing teams and organizing fundraisers—experiences that taught me the value of teamwork and community spirit.

Through RE/MAX Preferred Associates, I’ve continued that commitment by proudly supporting Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) | Nationwide Children’s Hospital Toledo for many years, hosting events like our annual golf outing and Cinco de Mayo party, which raise funds for this incredible cause. Our Cinco celebration also benefits Susan G. Komen for the Cure, helping advance breast cancer research and support services.

Beyond these efforts, I’m a proud supporter of Good Grief of Northwest Ohio, an organization dedicated to helping children and families cope with loss, and we’ve also contributed to the Victory Center, which provides vital resources for individuals battling cancer. These partnerships reflect my belief that giving back strengthens not only our community but also the relationships that make it thrive.

FINANCIAL OVERSIGHT EXPERIENCE

As a co-owner of a large brokerage, I oversee substantial operational budgets and manage financial planning, forecasting, and resource allocation to ensure responsible growth and sustainability. My experience includes implementing cost-effective strategies, optimizing staffing models, and investing in technology to improve efficiency and profitability. In 2023, I had the privilege of serving on the Northwest Ohio REALTORS® Finance Committee, where I contributed to budgetary reviews and strategic financial planning for the association—an experience that deepened my understanding of fiscal stewardship at the organizational level.

GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS EXPERIENCE

I actively stay informed on local, state, and national legislation impacting real estate and property rights. My commitment to advocacy is reflected in my service on the Northwest Ohio REALTORS® Legislative & Government Affairs Committee in both 2024 and 2025, where I contributed to discussions and initiatives aimed at protecting the interests of our members and the communities we serve.

In addition to committee service, I’ve been a Major Investor in the REALTORS® Political Action Committee (RPAC) for several years. I’ve also served on the RPAC committee and had the honor of chairing NORRPAC, our local RPAC chapter. RPAC plays a vital role in supporting candidates who champion real estate, private property rights, and a strong business environment. Through RPAC and the REALTOR® Party, we amplify our collective voice to shape policies that protect our profession and promote thriving communities across Ohio.

My involvement in these efforts reflects my deep belief in the power of advocacy and the importance of ensuring REALTORS® have a seat at the table when decisions are made that affect our industry and the clients we serve.

COMMUNICATIONS EXPERIENCE

Effective communication is key to every organization. I lead internal communications for a team of agents and staff across multiple offices, ensuring transparency and alignment with our mission. I also spearhead external communications through marketing campaigns, social media, and community outreach, showcasing our full-service model and promoting our agents’ successes.

In addition to my brokerage leadership, I’ve enjoyed engaging with fellow REALTOR® members through the various committees I’ve served on over the years. These experiences have allowed me to foster meaningful connections, share ideas, and collaborate on initiatives that strengthen our association and elevate the profession.

STRATEGIC PLANNING EXPERIENCE

Strategic planning is one of my favorite parts of leadership as I’m able to take feedback from various perspectives and see if and how we can implement it. Whether it’s opening new offices, building out support services, or adapting to market shifts, I’ve always approached planning with a mix of vision, practicality, and collaboration.

What’s been especially rewarding throughout my real estate career is the chance to work alongside other REALTORS® through the various committees I’ve served on. Those experiences have given me a broader perspective and helped me understand the unique challenges and opportunities facing our industry. I’ve learned that the best plans come from listening, sharing ideas, and working together—and that’s exactly the kind of energy I hope to bring to the Board of Directors.

TECHNOLOGY EXPERIENCE

I’ve always believed that technology should make our work easier, not more complicated. That’s why I’ve focused on implementing tools and platforms that genuinely enhance how our agents serve their clients. From CRM systems that streamline communication to virtual tour technology and digital marketing solutions, I’ve worked to ensure our brokerage stays ahead of the curve.

Most recently, during the MLS transition, I personally attended multiple in-person training sessions so I could be a resource for our office. I wanted to make sure our agents felt supported and had someone they could turn to with questions. Staying current with tech trends and being hands-on with new systems allows me to help our team adapt quickly and confidently. I’m passionate about finding smart, practical solutions that improve the way we work and deliver value to our clients.

REAL ESTATE TRENDS EXPERIENCE

With years of experience in the industry, I’ve learned how important it is to stay ahead of the curve. I regularly monitor market trends, shifts in consumer behavior, and economic indicators to help guide my team and clients through changing conditions. I subscribe to multiple local and national news outlets to stay informed on the latest developments that impact our industry—from housing policy and interest rates to emerging buyer preferences and inventory shifts.

I enjoy sharing what I learn through team meetings and educational content, helping our agents stay equipped with the insights they need to serve their clients effectively. Staying informed allows me to make thoughtful decisions for my brokerage and contribute meaningfully to conversations about the future of real estate in our region.

LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCE

Leading a large, multi-office brokerage has given me a wide range of leadership experience. I work closely with a diverse team of agents and staff, and I’ve always focused on creating a culture that values collaboration, growth, and excellence. Supporting others—whether through mentorship, professional development, or simply being available—is one of the most rewarding parts of my role.

Prior to leading my brokerage, I had the opportunity to grow as a leader through programs like the Ohio REALTORS® Tomorrow’s Leaders Today (TLT) Program, which I participated in in 2018, and the inaugural class of the Northwest Ohio REALTORS® Leadership Academy. Both experiences helped me build stronger connections within our industry and gave me a deeper understanding of how we can work together to make a lasting impact. These opportunities have inspired me to continue giving back and to help shape the future of our association through service on the Board of Directors.
