Committees and Task Forces

Northwest Ohio REALTORS relies on our members’ input through various committees. Below are our standing committees. In addition to these committees the Board of Directors will create various task forces to address a specific need within the organization.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee

Duties

  • Provide opportunities for members to learn about diversity, fair housing, and cultural sensitivity
  • Promote participation among diverse members at all levels of association involvement.
  • Work with local organizations to promote home ownership to minority populations
  • Be a part of cultural conversations in northwest Ohio related to diversity through education, exposure and strategic partnerships.

Composition – The NOR President and President Elect and members appointed by the President.

Term – One year

Economic Development Committee

Duties

  • Promote the REALTOR® position on economic issues
  • Identify local and regional economic development agencies to support financially
  • Identify opportunities to influence the decisions made by key economic development agencies
  • Establish relationships and maintain contact with stakeholders influential in the region’s economic development

Composition – NOR President, President Elect and up to 10 members who may or may not be current board members. The President will appoint the chair of the committee and fill any vacancies on the committee.

Term – Four years. At the end of each term, the member must be re-appointed by the current President.

GRIEVANCE COMMITTEE

Duties

  • Receives ethics complaints and arbitration requests to determine if, taken as true on their face, a hearing is to be warranted.

Composition – Unlimited number of members from various companies.

Term – 3 years

Investment Committee

Duties

  • Review Investment Policies and make recommendations for the Board’s approval
  • Recommend guidelines and goals for the investment of the Association’s surplus funds to the Board of Directors.
  • Oversee investment performance

Composition

NOR Treasurer, NOR President, President Elect, NORIS Treasurer and four members who are not current NOR or NORIS board members. The NOR President will appoint members to fill any vacancies on the committee. The Investment Committee will elect the chair each year.

Term – Three years

Legislative Committee

Duties

  • Promote the REALTOR® position on public policy issues
  • Monitor local legislation relating to private property rights
  • Establish relationships and maintain contact with local and state elected officials to assist the Association in the support or opposition of legislation on behalf of REALTORS® and private property owners
  • Discuss legislation that is being considered at the local level
  • Encourage REALTORS® to take an active role in the political process
  • Interview elected officials and determine allocation of RPAC funds

Composition – The NOR President and President Elect and members appointed by the President. Members do not have to be Association Members.

Term – One year

NORRPAC Committee

Duties

  • Assist NOR staff in reaching yearly NORRPAC goal.
  • Serve as table captains for NOR’s Legislative Breakfast.
  • Promote and encourage participation in NORRPAC at office sales meetings.
  • In coordination with CEO, actively recruit new Major Investors and encourage current investors to increase giving levels.

Composition – The NOR President and President Elect and members appointed by the President. All members of the committee must be NAR Major Investors ($1,000+).

Term – One year

PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS COMMITTEE

Duties

  • Serve as panel members for Ethics Complaint and/or Arbitration Hearings
  • Determine appropriate sanctions when a member has been found in violation of the Code of Ethics.

Composition – Members who served a minimum of three years on the Grievance Committee

Term – 3 years

YPN Committee

Duties

  • Monitor NAR’s YPN work to ensure alignment with NOR’s YPN goals and activities.
  • Recruit members to participate in YPN.
  • Recruit YPN members to attend the Ohio Realtors Convention and the National Association of REALTORS Convention and Expo.
  • Encourage YPN members to pursue leadership roles in the Association.
  • Recruit YPN members to attend Association events.
  • Provide YPN members an opportunity to learn more about NORPAC and encourage investment.
  • Inform YPN members about industry news and trends and take an active role in real estate policy discussion and advocacy.
  • Provide opportunities for YPN Members to network via events, social media and mentoring.
  • Provide opportunities for YPN members to demonstrate and increase their level of professionalism.
  • Provide opportunities for YPN members to volunteer in the community.
  • Composition – The NOR President and President Elect and members appointed by the President.
