WHY DO YOU WANT TO SERVE AS A DIRECTOR?
Why do I wish to serve as Director? That’s a good question. I suppose I should have been prepared for that. I am a member of Northwest Ohio REALTORS, the Firelands Association of REALTORS, and the Southeastern Border Association of REALTORS. There are big differences between the three. I have always noticed and been so proud of the way that NOR responds to any challenge. I believe we are ahead of any trend or change, we communicate change well, and we provide support throughout the process. Honestly, I’d just like to be of service and to help where needed. To be in a position to give feedback to NOR as well as give support and guidance to its members.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
Most of my adolescent and early adult years were spent with the German American Festival Society and Bavarian Sports Clubs. I was part of a dance group called the Toledo Holzhacker Baum Schuplattlers (ask me and I’ll help you pronounce that). We entertained at many festivals here locally and across the country.
After graduating college, I spent some time as Assistant Director of Special Events at the Toledo Humane Society which satisfied my love of animals. I also spent time helping the American Lung Association.
Since becoming a REALTOR, I spent a few years as a Mentor with Toledo Public Schools primarily helping 3rd graders with whatever skill needed a little help with some one on one attention.
There was a little break in there unless you count volunteer opportunities at NOR building play houses or helping out with Habitat for Humanity. I was struggling to think of a volunteer opportunity to fit where I’m at now. I spend time daily in one of our Metroparks. I love them, they are a gift to us here in Northwest Ohio. In fact, I recently applied to be a volunteer at the Metroparks! Now I just need to put the orientation schedule on my calendar so I can start!
FINANCIAL OVERSIGHT EXPERIENCE
Family budget.
GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS EXPERIENCE
In college worked at the Department of Natural Resources as a mail courier. That had me delivering/picking up mail throughout all of our City Departments. From Streets, Bridges and Harbors to the Mayor’s office at One Government Center.
COMMUNICATIONS EXPERIENCE
The majority of my career choices have been firmly rooted in Communication. From early days as a waitress/bartender, cashier and customer service in the retail space, customer service in the commercial space, non-profit planning and organization, scheduling glass plants across the country for O-I then Real Estate. My degree has served me well.
TECHNOLOGY EXPERIENCE
Know your strengths and supplement your weaknesses. I married well here. My husband is a Computer Tech. He worked at O-I and currently for Washington Local Schools. He is there to help me understand the latest technology so I can continue to move along with the trends.
REAL ESTATE TRENDS EXPERIENCE
My history as a production planner for O-I helped me understand and come to love data! I love simply looking up comparables for a buyer or seller to the more detailed analysis that requires Market Stats. I love it so much that sometimes I forget to ask if the people I’m doing this for have any interest in them. I’ve learned that there are data driven people who will gobble up all they can and then there are emotionally driven people who don’t have any use for your numbers. I feel as if I’ve experienced both sides of the RE market. From a buyer’s market in 2010 with short sales and foreclosures and 13,000 listings to look at to the seller’s market we have today and the 2,139 listings we have available—so different. You need to understand the market in order to really help your clients.
